A National Day of Mourning

I believe today we need to take a moment and understand what we have done. Through post 9/11 conditioning, moral authority, ignorance, hypocrisy, and xenophobia the majority of Americans have voted in a man who believes in Chrisitan [Eschatology](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eschatology) and American dominance. Can anyone honestly say we are [safer from terroism](http://cal.csusb.edu/faculty/philosophy/davidson/safer.htm)?

Instead of hunting down with all conviction the man behind the 9/11 plan we [began a war](http://www.gnn.tv/articles/article.php?id=761) that didn’t need to be fought over weapons that [did not exist](http://www.cia.gov/cia/reports/iraq_wmd_2004/). Using [not enough troops](http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A7053-2004Oct4.html) to free a tortured people to end up [torturing them](http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?040524fa_fact) again.

Meanwhile the American dollar is [plummeting](http://www.plim.org/01%20usa_dollar_devalua.htm) while we have ascended to a new record [debt](http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/). Our Supreme Court Justices are about to [retire](http://www.naral.org/facts/effect_scotus_retirement.cfm) and we have a full GOP Majority. As well as having our [foreign policy](http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=86591) being bounced off the heads of Religious figures. All the while [stripping](http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=1&q=http://www.epic.org/privacy/terrorism/hr3162.html&e=8092) Americans of their rights.

>”Four more years of American soldiers being used as cannon fodder.

>Four more years of scientific decisions being made by people who believe in a ghost in the clouds.

>Four more years of debt that our children and grandchildren will have to pay off.

>Four more years of racists and lunatics for judicial appointments.

>Four more years of looting the treasury and squandering it on corporate cronies.

>Four more years of making enemies faster than we can kill them.

>Four more years of fear and darkness and racism and hatred and stupidity and guns and bad country music.”

I fear for our country. I feel we have entered a new era. One that will take generations to undo. Instead of working with people our leaders feel they have righteousness in the world. I am a declared [Humanist](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humanist), there is no room in my world for pig-headed non-rational-realists. We are in a world that needs education more than spin. This election was lost due to Kerry’s inability to hammer or bite the issues at the head. I do not agree with the Democratic party in large parts, but they needed a brass set of balls and they came to the party without their dentures. I don’t know what they were afraid to lose, but they lost whatever they had. In the end I’d rather have a Canada or a Sweden than an arrogant control freak led nation.

It’s going to be an interesting set of upcoming years.
